Apps Parents Should Look Out For On Their Kid's Phone

August 7, 2019

There are several apps you should be looking out for on your child phone, according to wcnc.com. I recently read an article on WCNC.com and below are the list of apps that they recommend you to look out for on your child's phone.

(1) Instagram- this app has an age limit and your child have to be at least 13 years old or older to be on this app. There was a law passed called the COPPA law in 1998, this law was designed to limit the collection and use of personal information about children by the operators of Internet services and Web sites. Passed by the U.S. Congress in 1998, the law took effect in April 2000.

(2) Snapchat-this app has a age limit of 13 years old, but isn't safe for children because as a parent, you aren't able to read their messages that has been sent or received. The message disappears after a person open the message. Snapchat will also tell the other person your location.

(3) According to Wcnc 2019, "'ASKfm' encourages people to allow anonymous users to ask them questions, which opens the door for online bullying"(Author: Doug Delony, Janelle Bludau)

(4) Hot or Not' rates users on attractiveness. There’s no age verification and users can send each other messages. (Author: Doug Delony, Janelle Bludau)

(5) Skout is a flirting app that doesn't verity your ages and this app has adults and teens interacting in different groups.

These are just a few apps to look out for, you can visit WCNC website for a list of other apps to look out for.
